So here I am chilling in the hotel room waiting for a verdict on the severity and source of the problem. I proceeded to accidentally break the power connection to my computer so I have a limited amount of time to do some updates.
Sunday (day zero of the trip) I packed up the rest of my car to realize I really needed to send another box home is I wanted my dad and his luggage to make it back with me. Conveniently enough there was a box at Dave and Dianne's so it wasn't an issue.
Monday, day 1, started at an early 7am. We picked a southern path that took us up central Florida and cut west through the panhandle. This keeps us from touching Georgia but ultimately let us cut the mileage and time down. We then verge north as we went through Mobile, AL- the only place we encountered any real traffic. Next up was Mississippi- we passed through Jackson and Hattiesburg. We cross the flooded Mississippi and entered Louisiana. And finally we travel a couple miles into Texas. Got some pretty good Texas BBQ before sitting down to try and plan out the next days destination.
So day one was 980 miles in 15 hours. Changed one time zone.
And that brings us more of less to the present with me typing this up in the hotel room while my dad is at the Ford dealership trying to get the car fixed. I'm thinking that once it gets to 9am, I'll head down to the hotels gym and walk on the treadmill and then go soak my feet in the hot tub. Hopefully the car can be repaired sufficiently and quickly enough that we can make some process across Texas, but only time will tell.
Day 2 was suppose to be another 15 hour day ending in Winslow, Arizona. This would have put us at a very good distance from the Grand Canyon. We would have spent a decent amount of time seeing the sites before making it a few hours north. Now I am not sure if this will still be the case.
Well I am running out of juice. Until the next time...which might be done by my phone or my dad's phone!
